New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, along with former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Balaram and 16 others, has been booked under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act. The case was registered at the Sadashiva Nagar police station in Bengaluru following directions from the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court.

The complaint was filed by Durgappa, a former faculty member at the Centre for Sustainable Technology at IISc, who belongs to the tribal Bovi community. Durgappa alleged that he was falsely implicated in a honey trap case in 2014, which led to his dismissal from service. He also claimed he was subjected to casteist abuse and threats by the accused. Kris Gopalakrishnan, who serves as a member of the IISc Board of Trustees, has not commented on the matter. Other individuals named in the case include Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari KVS, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar and Manoharan.

Kris Gopalakrishnan held several prominent positions at Infosys, including CEO and managing director from 2007 to 2011 and vice chairman from 2011 to 2014. He has also served as president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and co-chaired the World Economic Forum in 2014. In 2011, he was honored with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award. An alumnus of IIT Madras, Gopalakrishnan holds master’s degrees in physics and computer science. He is also a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineers (INAE) and an Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE).
