New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season dates have been officially revealed. Rajiv Shukla, Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the announcement on Sunday, January 12 during the BCCI's Special General Meeting (AGM). The tournament will kick off on March 21 with the final scheduled for May 25.

Key Highlights from the AGM:

BCCI Secretary and Treasurer Elections: Devjit Saikia was unanimously elected as the new secretary of BCCI. Previously serving as interim secretary since Jay Shah's appointment as ICC chairman in December, Saikia now takes on the role full-time. Prabhtej Singh Bhatia was also elected unopposed as the new treasurer.

WPL Venue Announcement Pending: The venue for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has been finalized and will be announced soon.

IPL Commissioner Appointed: The IPL commissioner has been appointed for a one-year term.


Champions Trophy and Other Updates:

India is gearing up for the Champions Trophy next month. However, the Indian team for the tournament is yet to be announced. Before the Champions Trophy, India will play a T20 and ODI series against England. While the T20 team has been announced the ODI squad is pending. According to Rajiv Shukla, the selection of the Indian team for the Champions Trophy will take place during a meeting scheduled for January 18-19 with the team announcement expected on the same day.
