Indranil Bhattacharyya Appointed as RBI's New Executive Director

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the appointment of Indranil Bhattacharyya as its new Executive Director (ED), effective from March 19, 2025. Bhattacharyya will oversee the Department of Economic and Policy Research, bringing his expertise in monetary policy, fiscal policy, banking and international economic relations to the table. With nearly three decades of experience under his belt, Bhattacharyya has worked in various departments within the RBI, including the Monetary Policy Department and the International Department.

He has also served as an economic expert at the Qatar Central Bank in Doha, Qatar, from 2009 to 2014. Bhattacharyya holds a postgraduate degree in economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and his research interests lie in monetary theory and policy, financial markets and fiscal policy. Prior to his promotion, he was serving as Adviser in the Monetary Policy Department of the RBI.
