India-France Agreement Paves Way for Creation of World’s Largest Museum in Delhi
NEW DELHI (The Uttam Hindu): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the pivotal role of culture as a key element of "soft power" during an event on Thursday. He highlighted that the transformation of the North and South Blocks on Raisina Hill into the world’s largest museum would serve as an inspiration for the "remaking of Bharat."
Jaishankar made these comments at an event where India's National Museum and France Museums Développement signed an agreement. Under this partnership, the French agency will offer expertise and share best practices to help transform the British-era buildings into a "global cultural landmark," which will be known as the Yuga Yugeen Bharat National Museum.
The event was attended by Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou, and Union Culture Secretary Arunish Chawla.
Jaishankar stated, "We are witnessing a significant cultural collaboration, and as you all know, culture is an essential part of soft power." He added, "Today, we are gathered for a project of great national significance... My ministry is based in these buildings. Once the North and South Blocks are transformed into this envisioned museum, we will truly see it as an inspiration for the remaking of Bharat."
