Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant development, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday heard the plea filed by Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa seeking the quashing of an FIR registered against him. The case was taken up in the courtroom of Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya.


During the hearing, the Punjab government, through its public prosecutor, informed the court that the investigation into the FIR has already been initiated. The prosecutor further assured the court that Partap Singh Bajwa will not be arrested at this stage of the investigation.


Following the submissions, the High Court did not issue any stay on the ongoing probe. However, it directed that in case the investigating authorities find it necessary to arrest Bajwa, the court must be informed prior to any such action. The next date of hearing has been fixed for May 7, 2025.


The case continues to attract political attention as it involves a senior Congress leader, with both legal and political implications unfolding in the coming days.
