New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): It is ironic that despite numerous cyber fraud cases being broadcast daily through various TV channels and social media to raise awareness, people still fall victim to such scams. In one such incident on February 10, a complaint of cyber fraud amounting to Rs 5 lakh 23 thousand was filed by a resident of Rewari, Haryana. Following this, a team was formed under the guidance of Rewari Cyber Police Superintendent, Mayank Gupta, leading to the arrest of five cyber fraudsters in Patna, Bihar. The accused will now appear in court and be taken into custody to investigate their entire network.
The five accused were arrested from Patna.
Rewari Superintendent of Police, Dr. Mayank Gupta, revealed during a press conference that on February 10, Vedprakash, a resident of Musepur village in Rewari, called dial 1930 to report that an unknown individual had contacted him, claiming to be a bank employee. The fraudster persuaded him to download a bank app, assuring him it would save him from frequent visits to the bank. After downloading the app, Rs 5 lakh 23 thousand were withdrawn from his account, with the fraudster breaking his fixed deposit. Upon receiving the complaint, a team was formed, and the five suspects were arrested from a rented house in Patna.
