Gunshots End Officers' Lives: Police Probe Murder of Two Officers Found Dead in Van After Gunshot Attack
Udhampur (The Uttam Hindu): On Sunday morning around 6:30 AM, the Rambal police station received reports of a tragic incident involving two policemen from Sopore. The officers, traveling in a departmental vehicle towards STC Talwara were found dead at the scene due to gunshot wounds. Initial investigations indicate that the deaths may have resulted from a case of fratricide and suicide.
The police department responded promptly, with senior officers arriving at the scene shortly after receiving the information. The incident took place near Kali Mata Temple in Zero Mode Rambal. The identities of the deceased officers have not been confirmed as of the time of reporting and the police have stated that a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
According to Udhampur SSP Amod Nagpure the weapon used in the attack was identified as an AK-47 rifle. The investigation is still in its early stages but authorities are working diligently to uncover all the details surrounding the deaths. A third officer who was present at the scene, escaped unscathed. He will undergo postmortem and other necessary medical procedures at GMC Udhampur.
