Good News: Railways Launches ATM Facility in Moving Trains for Passenger Convenience

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Often there is a shortage of cash during long distance travel. Keeping this problem of passengers in mind, Indian Railways has taken a unique initiative. Now passengers traveling by train will also be able to easily withdraw money from ATM. Railways has made preparations to start ATM service in running trains for the convenience of passengers and currently its trial is being done.
Railways has started this facility on a trial basis in Panchvati Express running from Nanded to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). An ATM machine has been installed in this train, through which passengers will be able to withdraw cash during their journey.
This new facility will prove to be especially beneficial for those passengers who transact in cash instead of online payment. Also, it will be a relief for those who used to face inconvenience due to lack of online payment facility in the train or due to running out of cash. Now they will not have to wait at the station to withdraw money immediately when needed.
During this trial, railway officials are ensuring that the ATM machine works smoothly in a moving train. Network connectivity, security, privacy, passenger convenience and other necessary aspects are being closely monitored. If this trial is successful, the railways may plan to install ATMs in other trains as well in the future.
This facility will also prove to be very useful for passengers traveling long distances and who avoid carrying a lot of cash. There is often a risk of pickpockets and theft in trains, in such a situation, with the facility of onboard ATM, passengers will be able to make their journey more safe and comfortable.
