New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Delhi Police has taken 45-year-old film director Sanoj Kumar Mishra into custody in connection with a rape case. Mishra's anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court, paving the way for his arrest. The complainant, a 28-year-old woman, met Mishra through social media platforms TikTok and Instagram in 2020. She alleged that Mishra coerced her into meeting him by threatening suicide and later sexually assaulted her at a resort on June 18, 2021, after drugging her.

Mishra allegedly took objectionable photos and videos of the victim, using them to blackmail her into a relationship. He promised her marriage and film opportunities, forcing her into a live-in relationship in Mumbai. During this time, he assaulted her multiple times and forced her to undergo three abortions. The victim claimed that Mishra abandoned her in February 2025 and threatened to leak her private pictures and videos if she filed a complaint against him.

An FIR was registered against Mishra under charges of rape, assault, causing miscarriage and criminal intimidation. The woman provided a statement under Section 164 CrPC, supporting her allegations, and medical records confirming forced abortions were obtained from Muzaffarnagar. Mishra, who is married and resides with his family in Mumbai, had offered a film role to viral Mahakumbh Mela girl Monalisa. His arrest marks a significant development in the case, which highlights the exploitation and abuse of power in the film industry.
