Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): On November 26, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the head of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Sidhpur Punjab, will begin a fast unto death at the Khanauri border to demand the fulfillment of farmers' and laborers' rights. Farmer leaders have warned that if Dallewal dies during his hunger strike, his body will be kept at the Khanauri border, and another leader, Sukhjit Singh Hardojhande, will then begin his own fast unto death. This cycle will continue until the central government addresses the farmers' demands.

Preparations for the hunger strike have been completed, and farmers are determined to press for their demands. The protest comes in the wake of the tragic loss of more than 750 farmers during the Delhi Kisan Andolan-2, with over 33 farmers having already died since February 13 during the ongoing Kisan Andolan-2. In response, senior leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has decided to sit on a fast unto death, a protest that will continue until the government takes action.

Recently, a meeting of the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) (India) was held in Delhi, where farmer leaders from across the country decided that large numbers of farmers and laborers from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and South India will gather at the Khanauri border in support. Additionally, peaceful protests will be held at district headquarters from November 26 to show solidarity.
