New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): An intense encounter between criminals and the Patna Police along with the Special Task Force (STF) took place on Saturday evening in the Naubatpur police station area, near Patna. During the exchange of gunfire, Bharat Singh, a notorious criminal with a bounty of three lakh rupees on his head, was captured by the police. Two other criminals were also arrested during the operation.

The police had received a tip-off that Bharat Singh, the brother of the slain criminal Jatha, was hiding in the Naubatpur area with his accomplices. Upon receiving this information, the STF and Patna Police team moved to the location and surrounded Bharat from all sides. As the police closed in, Bharat's henchmen opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. In the ensuing exchange of fire, Bharat was apprehended, and his two associates were also arrested.

Sources confirm that weapons were recovered from the criminals during the operation. Bharat Singh has been linked to more than a dozen criminal cases, including murder and extortion, filed in Naubatpur and other nearby police stations. The police are continuing raids in search of Bharat’s remaining henchmen, based on the information obtained from him.

Bharat Singh had taken over his brother Jatha's criminal activities after Jatha's death. He had been active in the region, carrying out several illicit operations. The STF and Patna Police had been actively searching for him for a long time, and his arrest is seen as a major victory in their ongoing efforts to curb crime in the area.
