New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): U.S. President Donald Trump has taken strong action against his Democratic opponents. Trump has revoked the security clearances of former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and several other leaders. This move follows a similar action Trump took earlier against former U.S. President Joe Biden. As a result of this decision, Kamala Harris and Clinton will no longer have access to government-secret files. By doing so, Trump has broken a longstanding tradition. In his decision, Trump stated that he made this move because these individuals’ access to such sensitive information is no longer in the national interest. While this decision will not take immediate effect, it has sparked political turmoil in the U.S.

This move is noteworthy because former U.S. presidents traditionally receive intelligence briefings so that they can advise current presidents on national security and foreign policy. However, Biden had also imposed similar restrictions on Trump in 2021. Since taking office, Trump has been working on several initiatives, including declassifying many confidential documents. Recently, the Trump administration released files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Additionally, during his first term, Trump had also declassified the Pentagon Papers related to Vietnam, allowing the public to learn new details.
