New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh had the privilege of meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 1, 2025, calling it a "fantastic start" to the new year. During the interaction, Modi praised Dosanjh's rise from humble beginnings to achieving international success.

The Prime Minister shared their exchange on social media, describing it as a “memorable interaction” and highlighting Dosanjh's unique blend of talent and tradition. On X, Modi expressed, "A great interaction with Diljit Dosanjh! He's truly multifaceted, blending talent and tradition. We connected over music, culture, and more." Modi also jokingly mentioned that Dosanjh had been winning over people, while the singer-actor reciprocated with his admiration for Modi's sentiments about his mother and the Ganga river.

Despite recent criticisms from right-wing groups on various matters, Dosanjh continued his positive outlook. After meeting Modi, he posted on X, saying, "A fantastic start to 2025. A very memorable meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We talked about a lot of things, including music of course!" Dosanjh had faced legal controversies related to his New Year’s Eve concert in Ludhiana. A complaint from Punditrao Dharenavar, an assistant professor from Chandigarh, aimed to prevent the singer from performing songs promoting alcohol during his Dil-Luminati Tour show on December 31, 2024.

Earlier in December, protests by the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Indore against the sale of liquor and meat at Dosanjh's concert were supported by some BJP legislators. Reacting to the protests, Dosanjh had humorously remarked that he would stop singing alcohol-themed songs if all liquor shops in the country were shut down.
