West Bengal (The Uttam Hindu): In a tragic turn of events, two deadly gas cylinder-related incidents shook the nation on Sunday and Monday, claiming a total of nine lives — including six children. The first and deadliest explosion occurred in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, where seven people, including four children, lost their lives in a powerful gas cylinder blast. The incident took place around 9 PM in Dholaghat village of the Pathar Pratima block. According to police, the explosion was so intense that a massive fire engulfed the house. Among the deceased were four children, two women and one man. One woman, who sustained injuries has been hospitalized.

Sundarban Police District SP Koteshwar Rao confirmed that all bodies have been recovered. Initial investigations suggest that the fire was triggered by the explosion of one of two gas cylinders in the house, which was further intensified by firecrackers stored inside. Residents nearby reported hearing a loud explosion, followed by a fire that quickly spread. The area has since been cordoned off, and forensic teams are expected to examine the site for further clues.

In a separate incident, two minor siblings died in Delhi’s Manohar Park area after a fire broke out due to an LPG cylinder gas leak on Sunday night. The fire, reported around 8:20 PM, prompted the dispatch of two fire engines. Upon arrival, Delhi Fire Service officials confirmed the cause was a gas leak from the cylinder. The victims, identified as Sakshi and her brother Akash, were found dead inside the house. Authorities have launched investigations into both incidents and have reiterated the importance of safety precautions when handling gas cylinders.
