Congress Worker’s Body Found in Suitcase in Rohtak, Day Before Haryana Civic Polls

Rohtak, Haryana (The Uttam Hindu): The body of a 22-year-old Congress worker, Himani Narwal was found stuffed inside a suitcase near the Sampla bus stand in Haryana’s Rohtak district on Saturday. The incident occurring just a day before the municipal elections in the state has sparked outrage and demands for a thorough investigation.
According to police reports, the suitcase was spotted by passers-by, who immediately informed authorities. Upon arrival, police and forensic teams discovered Narwal’s body with a dupatta wrapped around her neck leading to suspicions of strangulation. Mehendi was also observed on her hands. The body was sent to PGIMS Rohtak for a post-mortem examination.
Narwal, a resident of Rohtak’s Vijay Nagar area, was actively involved in Congress activities and had been associated with party MP Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Following the shocking discovery, Congress leaders called for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the matter. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda described the murder as “barbaric” and a “blot” on the state’s law and order situation.
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda also raised concerns over Haryana’s security situation and urged authorities to arrest the culprits at the earliest. Party MLA BB Batra reiterated the demand for an impartial probe emphasizing Narwal’s active role in the party’s programs.
Sampla police station in-charge Vijendra Singh confirmed that a case had been registered and that investigations were underway. Officials stated that further action would be taken based on the findings of the post-mortem examination. As Haryana gears up for civic body elections, the incident has triggered political reactions with calls for justice growing louder. The Congress has urged the government to ensure the harshest punishment for those responsible for the crime.
