Shimla (The Uttam Hindu): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday slammed Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for "gross economic mismanagement," following a Himachal High Court order to attach Himachal Bhavan, the state government guest house in Delhi's Mandi House area. The order comes after the state government failed to clear dues amounting to approximately Rs 150 crore.

BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and state BJP President Rajiv Bindal, released video statements accusing the Congress government of mishandling state finances and bringing the prestige property of Himachal Pradesh to the brink of auction. "This is a matter of shame," both leaders stated in the videos, expressing their concern over the state's financial mismanagement.

The Himachal High Court's order pertains to unpaid dues that have accumulated over time, with the total amount now ballooning to around Rs 150 crore due to delays in settling the payments. The BJP further criticized the Congress-led state government for a series of embarrassments, including recent controversies over samosas, toilet taxes, and now the attachment of Himachal Bhavan. The attachment order has become the latest in a series of setbacks for the Congress government, fueling growing discontent within the opposition, which accuses the government of mismanaging state finances and failing to meet its financial obligations.
