CM Mann Condemns Ambedkar Statue Vandalism, Promises Strict Action

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has strongly condemned the vandalisation of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's statue in Amritsar. He has directed the administration to take strict action against the culprits.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wrote in a post on his X account on Monday, "The incident of breaking the statue of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on Heritage Street of Sri Amritsar Sahib is highly condemnable and no one will be forgiven for this incident. Whoever is responsible for this incident, he will get the harshest punishment. No one will be allowed to break the brotherhood and unity of Punjab. Instructions have been issued to the administration to investigate this and take strict action against the culprits."
At the same time, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal has called the incident of breaking Baba Saheb's statue a conspiracy. He wrote in the post, "I strongly condemn the attempt to desecrate the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on Heritage Street in Sri Amritsar Sahib on Republic Day. This heinous act has hurt the sentiments of millions of people. I demand strict action against the culprits and a thorough investigation to find out the conspiracy behind this shameful incident. Let us unite against such despicable attempts to create division in the society."
Let us tell you that on 26 January, the statue of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar located near the Town Hall of Amritsar was vandalized by unknown people. After the video of this incident went viral, the opposition is constantly raising questions on the state government.
Earlier, Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla had targeted the state government. He said that on one hand Republic Day is being celebrated in the country on 26 January, on the other hand insulting those who gave the country equal rights and the Constitution is an insult to every citizen of the country. The incident of breaking the statue of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar is condemnable.
Gurjeet Singh Aujla demanded an inquiry into the incident. He said that the state government should intervene considering the seriousness of the incident and give the harshest punishment to those who did this.
