Chardham Yatra 2024: Online Registration Soon, No VIP Privileges in First Month

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Online registration for the Chardham Yatra is set to commence within the next seven days. To facilitate this, official letters will be dispatched to the Chief Secretaries of other states via the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand. In a significant decision, VIP darshan will be restricted during the first month of the pilgrimage; however, VIP visitors can still participate as regular pilgrims. This resolution was made during a meeting held at the Chardham Yatra transit camp in Rishikesh on Wednesday. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey provided necessary instructions to the concerned officials regarding the Yatra's preparations.
During the meeting, the Garhwal Commissioner prioritized road repairs along all Char Dham routes, directing relevant agencies to complete the work by April 15. Discussions also covered crowd management, traffic control, and the establishment of passenger halts to prevent congestion at the four Dhams. A significant decision was made regarding registration, offering relief to pilgrims traveling to Rishikesh, Haridwar, and other locations for manual registration. The registration process will be divided into 60% online and 40% offline, with an increased number of counters to accommodate the demand.
Authorities were also instructed to ensure adequate facilities for devotees, including water, electricity, toilets, healthcare services, and hot drinking water for mules. The meeting was attended by District Magistrates from seven districts, along with police officials, RTO officers, municipal commissioners, and representatives from various administrative bodies. The comprehensive planning aims to enhance the smooth functioning and safety of the Chardham Yatra for all pilgrims.
