New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- The central government has issued a new notification regarding ration card, which can prove beneficial for consumers. The government has extended the deadline for linking ration card with Aadhaar for the beneficiaries taking ration under the public distribution system by three months. If Aadhaar seeding of any member mentioned in the ration card is not done by June 30, then action will be taken to delete the name of those members from the ration card.

A notification of the Central Food and Public Distribution Department said that now consumers will be able to link ration cards with Aadhaar till June 30. However, earlier the date for Aadhaar seeding was fixed till March 31. Despite this, Aadhaar seeding (e-KYC) has not been done by every member mentioned in the ration card covered under the National Food Security Act, keeping this in mind, the last date for Aadhaar seeding has been extended to June 30. In this regard, District Supply Officer Seema Kumari said that every member can get free Aadhaar seeding done through e-pass machine maintained at any Targeted Public Distribution System vendor shop. She said that if the Aadhaar seeding of any member mentioned in the ration card is not done by June 30, then action will be taken to delete the name of those members from the ration card and the benefit of food grains against such members will not be given to the beneficiary family. Linking the ration card with Aadhaar will help in eliminating fake ration cards. Ration will be made available to all those people who are eligible beneficiaries. In such a situation, those who have not yet linked their Aadhaar-ration card, should complete the process as soon as possible.
