Caution! 103 Medicines Fail Quality Tests Nationwide; 38 from Himachal, Alert Issued

Solan (The Uttam Hindu)- Samples of 103 medicines manufactured across the country have failed. Out of which 38 medicines are manufactured in Himachal. Regarding which the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and State Drug Authority issued a drug alert.
Out of these medicines, samples of medicines used for cold, cough, flu, allergy and pain relief, vitamins and heart disease have failed. 38 medicines found to be bad have been produced in the industries of Himachal. Whereas, 11 medicines in Uttarakhand, 9 each in Gujarat and Punjab failed the quality test. Samples of medicines made in the industries of Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Assam and Tamil Nadu have also failed. Whereas, in the alert of CDSCO, samples of 47 medicines failed, out of which 21 medicines were made in Himachal. In the alert of State Drug Authority, the quality of 56 medicines from across the country was found to be not good. This includes 17 medicines made in Himachal. CDSCO has issued a list to the drug controllers of all the states and directed them to take action. Apart from this, Azithromycin Oral made in the industry of Phillaur, Punjab was found to be bad. Samples of many such well-known medicines including Albendazole, Amoxicillin, Paracetamol and Diclofenac, Levocetirizine, Calcium with Vitamin D3, Folic Acid have been found to fail.
It has been found in the report that dust particles have been found in most of the medicines. At the same time mistakes have also been found in the misbranding i.e. level. The ingredients have not been added in the medicine as per the mentioned quantity. Some medicines are also found to be fake. Keeping in mind the health of people CDSCO has uploaded the information of the medicines along with the concerned batch on the website. Now instructions are being given by the drug controllers of the concerned states to recall the spoilt medicines from the market.
