New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Peel Police have arrested five individuals in connection with a major theft ring targeting the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO). The suspects, all of Punjabi descent, are accused of stealing liquor from 50 LCBO locations across various regions between August 2024 and February 2025, with an estimated value of $237,738.95 in stolen goods.

The suspects operated in a coordinated manner, with multiple individuals entering stores to distract employees while others accessed restricted areas to steal large volumes of liquor. Five individuals have been charged with Theft Over $5000, while three of them face additional charges. The arrested individuals include:

- Anuj Kumar, 25, of no fixed address

- Simarpeet Singh, 29, of no fixed address

- Sharndeep Singh, 25, of no fixed address (charged with Breach of Release Order)

- Simranjeet Singh, 24, of no fixed address (charged with Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence)

- Prabhpreet Singh, 29, from Caledon (charged with Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence)

All five suspects were held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. Additionally, two men, Jagshir Singh, 28, and Punit Sehjra, 25, both of no fixed address, remain at large and are wanted for Theft Over $5000 and Break with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence.

Deputy Chief Marc Andrews praised the Criminal Investigation Bureau for their exceptional work in dismantling the organized crime group, stating, “By arresting and charging multiple individuals, we are sending a strong message that those who target our communities will be found and held accountable.” The investigation is ongoing, and police expect additional charges to be laid.
