"Bulldozers Can’t Wipe Out History" – Sheikh Hasina’s Sharp Response Amid Attack on Father’s Residence

Dhaka (The Uttam Hindu): Deposed Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina addressed the supporters of Awami League Party. However, soon after the address, information came to light that protesters in Dhaka attacked the historic residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The protesters vandalized the residence. Sheikh Hasina addressed the people through Facebook Live. During the address, she said that a movement was started in Bangladesh to kill her. Mohammad Yunus had planned to kill me and my sister.
Sheikh Hasina said that if Allah has kept me alive despite these attacks, then I must have done something big. If this were not the case, I would not have been able to defeat death so many times. During her address, she had raised the question that why did people set her house on fire? I demand justice from the people of Bangladesh. Have I not done anything for my country? Why were we insulted so much? Let us tell you that after the coup in Bangladesh, protesters vandalized Sheikh Hasina's residence. The items present in her house were looted. Her house was demolished with a bulldozer.
Sheikh Hasina further said that I had many memories associated with the house which was vandalized by the protesters. The house can be burnt, but history cannot be erased. She challenged Mohammad Yunus and his supporters and said that they can destroy the national flag and the constitution with a bulldozer, which we had achieved at the cost of the lives of lakhs of martyrs. History cannot be erased with a bulldozer.
After his address, thousands of people gathered in front of the house located in the Dhanmondi area. The house has now been converted into a memorial museum and is considered a symbol of Bangladesh's independence movement. The protesters carried out the event after a call for a "bulldozer procession" was made on internet media.
Eyewitnesses said a group of army personnel tried to convince the protesters but were met with hooting. The protesters first damaged a mural of the martyred leader on the wall of the building and wrote "Ab 32 nahi hoga". Sheikh Hasina has been living in India since August 5, when she fled Bangladesh following a massive student-led protest.
