BJP Strikes Back: FIR Filed Against Rahul Gandhi After Parliament Protest Turned Violent
New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Bansuri Swaraj, and Hemang Joshi have lodged an FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after a violent incident broke out on the Parliament campus on Thursday. In their complaint to the Parliament Street police station, they have cited Gandhi as "accused no. 1". The altercation took place while BJP MPs Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Chandra Sarangi were protesting near the Makardwar gate.
Sarangi, who was hospitalized with a head injury, claimed that Rahul Gandhi pushed Rajput, which caused him to fall and knock Sarangi to the ground. Rajput was said to have been admitted to the ICU for treatment. Rahul Gandhi, on the other hand, claimed that BJP MPs blocked his entry into the Lok Sabha and threatened him.
MP from Congress Gaurav Gogoi added fuel to the fire by alleging that BJP MPs were hostile and brandishing sticks, threatening to harm Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. The Congress also filed a complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, stating that BJP MPs manhandled Rahul Gandhi during the protest. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, sister of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, terming the FIR a 'conspiracy' by BJP to save Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked why the party 'acted now' as they had done so previously during similar protests without being deterred.
