New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Delhi politics has witnessed a significant shift with the defection of BJP leader Pravesh Ratan to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). AAP leader Manish Sisodia led the welcome ceremony, marking an important transition with elections approaching.

Earlier, Ratan was a BJP candidate from the Patel Nagar constituency in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections. He lost the election but his joining AAP is seen as a loss for the BJP in the locality, which has been a victim of other recent party loyalty shifting. Ratan's resignation is similar to that of Rajkumar Anand, an AAP MLA and minister, who had crossed over to the BJP before the Lok Sabha elections.

The timing of the defection by Ratan is even more interesting, considering how political realignments are being intensified as Lok Sabha polls approach. AAP and BJP are working strategically to get their position stronger. Here, AAP has been successful in its influence spread to Delhi and beyond while for BJP to maintain their majorities in the important seats. This is how politics is shifting, depicting hot competition to gain hold at the nation's capital.
