Moscow (The Uttam Hindu): Russia has achieved a major medical breakthrough by claiming to have developed a cancer vaccine. The Russian Health Ministry announced this on Tuesday. Andrei Kaprin, director of the Radiology Medical Research Center of the Russian Health Ministry, gave this information on the radio. According to the Russian news agency TASS, this vaccine will be administered free of cost to the citizens of Russia from next year.

Director Andrei Kaprin said that Russia has developed its own mRNA vaccine against cancer. This discovery is being considered one of the biggest discoveries of this century. Clinical trials of the vaccine have shown that it is helpful in preventing tumor growth. Earlier this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin also said that Russia is very close to making a cancer vaccine.

What is mRNA vaccine?

mRNA, which stands for messenger-RNA, is a small part of the human genetic code that makes proteins in our cells. In simple words, when a virus or bacteria attacks our body, mRNA technology sends a message to our cells to make proteins to fight that virus or bacteria. This provides the necessary proteins to our immune system and produces antibodies in our body.

The biggest advantage of mRNA vaccine is that it can be made much faster than traditional vaccines. Also, it strengthens the body's immunity. This is the first cancer vaccine based on mRNA technology.
