Jaipur (The Uttam Hindu): On Thursday, the Income Tax Department launched a major crackdown on Jaipur, focussing its attention at the wedding planners, influential tent business people, and luxurious marriage events companies. With more than 190 officials and employees, this operation hit more than 20 different places in the city.

Some of the famous names that have been raided are Taluka Tent, Bhavana Charan, Pritesh Sharma, Anand Khandelwal, Gunjan Singhal, and Jai Oberoi Caterers. The businessmen here are accused of hiding earnings to avoid paying taxes. According to the department, these people increased their businesses to a large extent while earning huge profits, yet they did not pay their due taxes.

The raids specifically targeted the head honchos of Jaipur's luxury wedding and tent business. The Income Tax Department simultaneously searched the commercial as well as residential properties of the suspects. Approximately 70-75 police personnel along with an equal number of vehicles were involved in the operation, which is being touted as a strong signal to the business community that tax evasion will no longer be tolerated.

During the raid, tight security measures were in place; no one was allowed in or out of the locations. The main gates were sealed, and all that happened inside remained confidential. Media personnel collected outside locations as the raid continued. The Income Tax Department has shown it will take strong actions against tax evasion by the business community in Jaipur through this operation.
