Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu)- The Punjab government's stance against drug abuse seems to be very strict. Along with this, the drug addicts who have fallen into the trap of drug abuse are also being treated. Health Minister Balbir Singh, a member of the high-power committee constituted by the government, said that skill centers are being set up in de-addiction centers in all districts, where various courses will be started for those who want to quit drug addiction.


Health Minister Balbir Singh, who visited the de-addiction centres, said that drug smugglers will be sent to jail, while those trapped in drug addiction will be treated and linked to employment. He appealed to the family members to come forward and support their children to save them from drug addiction. He has also shared a post related to this. Drug related items are being distributed for free around schools, especially school children are being trapped by drug smugglers. These include vaping and other intoxicants, which are sold under many names including strawberry drug candy. Therefore, children and parents need to be vigilant. The Health Minister also appealed to the parents to cooperate in the treatment of children. The Health Minister said that he will tour the entire Punjab and inspect the arrangements of de-addiction centres. Facilities of yoga, gym and sports have been made available in these centres, so that those who quit drugs can be made mentally and physically strong. Apart from this, they will also be provided with the facility to teach various skills. Those who quit drugs will have to undergo rehabilitation process and then they will be trained in skill centres
