New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In response to recent performances including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy defeat and the clean sweep against New Zealand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a new set of strict rules for Indian cricketers. These guidelines aim to enhance discipline, strengthen team bonding and ensure better performances. Players and staff are required to comply strictly with penalties for violations including exclusion from tournaments and cancellation of contracts.

Key rules include the mandatory participation in domestic cricket as a basis for team selection, fostering relationships between senior and junior players. Players must travel with the team limiting family involvement on tours unless explicitly permitted. The BCCI has also imposed restrictions on luggage, personal staff and advertising activities during tours to maintain focus. All players must attend practice sessions and official events, while staying with the team until the end of tours regardless of early series conclusions.

Further rules address family time during foreign tours with limitations on the duration and expenses covered by the board. Players must also adhere to specific protocols for dispatching personal items to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. BCCI has emphasized that these measures are essential to team cohesion and professionalism, warning of strict consequences for non-compliance including bans from series, IPL and potential salary forfeiture.
