Bandipora: Four Lashkar Terrorists Arrested, Weapons Seized in Army Operation

Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): Since the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, April 22, the army personnel have been on high alert. The soldiers are conducting large-scale search operations to capture the terrorists. The identities of the 5 terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack have been identified, including 3 Pakistanis and 2 Kashmiri civilians. In Bandipora, security forces have arrested four over-ground workers of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Currently, the Indian Army is conducting search operations in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir. In Poonch-Anantnag and Udhampur, security forces have surrounded the terrorists, and encounters are ongoing.
On Thursday, the Indian Army, along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), initiated a joint search operation in the Lasana forest area of Poonch to capture the terrorists. Police and SOG personnel are searching the forests and mountains for the terrorists.
A reward of ₹20 lakh has been announced for anyone providing information about the 5 terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. It is worth mentioning that in the Bandipora district of northern Kashmir, security forces have arrested four over-ground workers of Lashkar-e-Taiba. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition has been recovered from them. Meanwhile, in the Jammu region, an encounter has been reported between security forces and terrorists in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district.
In Anantnag district, an encounter took place on Wednesday between security forces and terrorists in Kokernag. However, there was no information about any terrorists being killed until late at night. According to reports, the security forces launched a search operation in Tangmarg village near Kokernag after receiving information that terrorists were hiding there. Security forces surrounded the terrorists on the outskirts.
The terrorists fired at the soldiers in an attempt to break the siege and escape. The soldiers retaliated with gunfire. Both sides exchanged fire for about 20 minutes. Sources stated that the area where this encounter took place is adjacent to a forest, and there is also an orchard. Security forces have cordoned off the entire area to ensure the terrorists cannot escape.
