New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Delhi has officially launched the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), becoming the 35th state/union territory to implement the scheme. The Delhi government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Health Authority to provide eligible families with annual health coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh.

Key Features of the Scheme:

Health Coverage: Eligible families will receive Rs 10 lakh in annual health coverage, with Rs 5 lakh contributed by the Central Government and Rs 5 lakh by the State Government.

Empanelled Hospitals: 91 hospitals, including 46 private and 34 government-run facilities, have been empanelled to provide free and cashless treatment.

Medical Procedures: The scheme covers 1,961 medical procedures, including surgeries, hospitalization, and ICU care.

Digital Records: Patient records will be maintained digitally for better monitoring and management.

Implementation and Benefits:

The scheme aims to improve Delhi's health infrastructure, providing better primary care and health services. Priority will be given to the poorest families, including beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY). A special campaign will be launched to enroll beneficiaries under the scheme. West Bengal is the only state where the scheme has not been implemented yet. The Delhi government's initiative is expected to enhance the city's healthcare framework, ensuring that families in need receive necessary support.
