Auto driver murders woman in brutal attack after she slaps him with slippers
Chennai (The Uttam Hindu): A woman aged 50 year was killed, and her husband grievously injured by a man who held a grudge against them. The attack occurred on Tuesday night on Sannathi Street in the Thiruvottriyur area of northern Chennai, while Gowri and her husband Mari were selling vegetables by the roadside. Witnesses at the scene reported that a man approached the couple and launched an attack on Gowri with a knife. When her husband tried to intervene and protect her, the attacker turned on him as well.
Bystanders managed to apprehend the assailant as he attempted to flee after the attack. The man was identified as 52-year-old Sekar, an autorickshaw driver, who was later handed over to the police. Despite receiving emergency medical treatment, Gowri succumbed to her injuries. Her husband was rushed to the nearby Stanley Government Hospital for further care.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Sekar harbored a grudge against Gowri. The tension arose from an incident about 10 days earlier, when Sekar suspected the couple of urinating in a spot where he frequently slept. He confronted them over this suspicion, which escalated into an argument. During that confrontation, Gowri allegedly slapped him with slippers, an act that angered Sekar.
The police are continuing to investigate the case further.
