Amritsar Youth Dies on Donkey Route; Paid ₹36 Lakh to Agent, Sole Brother Among Six Sisters

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): A young man from Ramdas town in Tehsil Ajnala, Amritsar, Punjab lost his life while attempting to reach America. The deceased, identified as 33-year-old Gurpreet Singh, passed away near Guatemala during his journey.
Gurpreet, the only brother among six sisters, had embarked on this risky route to improve his family's financial situation. Reports suggest that he left for America three months ago with the help of an agent. Tragically, while traveling near Guatemala he suffered a fatal heart attack. A fellow traveler informed his family about the devastating news over the phone.
According to relatives, Gurpreet had previously traveled to England on a work permit six years ago but later returned. This time, he had hoped to settle in America but destiny had other plans. His grieving family is now pleading with the Indian government to help bring his body back so they can perform his final rites.
His sisters and parents, shattered by the loss have urged authorities for assistance in repatriating his remains. Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal visited the bereaved family and expressed his condolences. He also urged people not to risk their lives by attempting illegal migration emphasizing that if individuals can save such large sums of money, they should consider investing in businesses within Punjab assuring government support for their endeavors.
