New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In response to the growing demand for premium travel, Air India has announced the expansion of its premium economy class. The airline has witnessed a significant surge in demand, with bookings doubling over the past three years. To cater to this increasing demand, Air India is offering premium economy fares starting at an attractive ₹599. This limited-time offer is available on domestic flights, with prices varying based on routes and demand. Currently, Air India's premium economy service is available on 39 domestic routes, with over 50,000 premium economy seats available weekly. Key metro routes such as Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Bengaluru, Delhi-Hyderabad, Mumbai-Bengaluru, and Mumbai-Hyderabad account for nearly 34,000 of these seats.

To further enhance its premium economy capacity, Air India is retrofitting 27 A320 aircraft, resulting in a 30% increase in premium economy seats. This upgrade will push the total number of premium economy seats to over 65,000 weekly. The refurbished aircraft will feature brand-new seats and will operate on domestic and short-haul international routes. Air India's premium economy class offers a range of amenities, including extra legroom, priority check-in, boarding, and baggage handling, as well as superior seat design and hot meals served on fine chinaware. In addition to its premium economy expansion, Air India has also introduced 'Vista Stream', a complimentary wireless in-flight entertainment system available across its fleet, excluding A350 and upgraded B777 aircraft. This innovative system allows passengers to stream over 1,000 hours of content directly on their personal devices. With these enhancements, Air India is poised to provide its passengers with an elevated travel experience, combining comfort, convenience, and entertainment.
