Hyderabad (The Uttam Hindu): Despite the hectic efforts of the Indian Army, NDRF and other agencies, there has been no success even after 60 hours in safely evacuating eight people trapped 14 km inside due to the collapse of a part of the roof in an under-construction tunnel of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana.

A team of rat miners who rescued construction workers trapped in the Silkayara Bend-Barkot tunnel in Uttarakhand in 2023 has also joined the rescue operation with the NDRF, Army and others to rescue these eight people. Endoscopic and robotic cameras were brought into the tunnel on Monday for the rescue operation. The NDRF dog squad has also been deployed to assist in this operation. On the other hand, the workers who survived the accident are hopeful of the safe return of their colleagues.

The workers trapped in the Silkayara tunnel are facing depression and sleep problems. Let us tell you, after examining one-third of the workers who escaped after being trapped in the Silkayara tunnel in Uttarakhand in November 2023, it was found that they had mental health and sleep problems. When the researchers asked 33 workers about their daily routine, worries, sleep, it was found that about one-third of them faced time-related confusion due to which they had problems related to sleep and mental depression.

One member each from the families of four workers from Gumla, Jharkhand, who were trapped in a tunnel in Telangana, reached there by plane on Monday. According to the information, the implementing agency Jaiprakash Associates LTS had called the relatives of the workers trapped in the tunnel to Telangana. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Gumla Deputy Commissioner Karna Satyarthi made arrangements to send one relative of each worker to Telangana by plane.
