Kuala Lumpur (The Uttam Hindu): An AirAsia flight from Malaysia to China was forced to return to Kuala Lumpur shortly after takeoff due to an engine fire. Malaysian authorities reported that AirAsia flight AK128, en route to Shenzhen, China, had to make an emergency landing back in Kuala Lumpur after one of its engines caught fire. Fortunately, there were no reports of any casualties.

The Selangor State Fire Department issued a statement saying that the flight, which departed for Shenzhen, experienced an engine fire at 9:59 PM on Wednesday due to the rupture of a pneumatic ducting. As a result, the aircraft had to return to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The department confirmed that the aircraft’s in-built fire suppression system successfully extinguished the fire. There were 171 passengers and crew members on board, all of whom were safely evacuated. Fire department personnel ensured that all passengers and crew exited the aircraft safely and conducted a thorough inspection to prevent any further risk of fire.
