Vilnius,(The Uttam Hindu): Lithuania has commenced early voting for a runoff election in 63 single-seat constituencies as part of the country's parliamentary elections. The Central Electoral Commission announced that polling stations will be open daily from 7:00 a.m. local time until Thursday, allowing early voters in all 60 municipalities to cast their ballots.
In addition to the polling stations, early voting will also be available at other facilities and for home voters starting Wednesday and continuing through Saturday. This runoff election features the top two candidates from each of the 63 single-seat constituencies, following the first round of voting held on October 13.
The initial round resulted in the election of 70 MPs from multi-member constituencies and eight from single-member districts to Lithuania's 141-seat unicameral parliament, with a term length of four years. The remaining single-seat constituencies will participate in the runoff, which is scheduled for Election Day on Sunday.
