Israeli Airstrike Targets Gaza Car, Killing 5—World Central Kitchen Workers Among the Dead!

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu):An Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the Gaza Strip on November 30 killed five people, including employees of World Central Kitchen (WCK). The charity expressed shock and heartbreak, stating it was urgently seeking more information after the Israeli military claimed one of the victims was involved in the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which ignited the war. WCK denied knowing any of the victims had ties to the attack and announced it was suspending operations in Gaza while working with incomplete information.

Earlier this year, WCK temporarily halted its operations after an Israeli strike killed seven of its workers, most of them foreigners. The Israeli military’s statement suggested that one of the individuals killed in the recent airstrike had participated in the assault on the kibbutz of Nir Oz. The military has called for clarification from WCK and international officials on how the individual came to work with the charity.

The deadly strike underscores the perilous conditions faced by aid agencies in Gaza, where ongoing violence has displaced millions and caused widespread hunger. Palestinian health official Muneer Alboursh confirmed the attack, and Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis reported the recovery of items bearing the WCK logo among the casualties. Witnesses described the chaotic scene, with one witness recounting how an airstrike hit a food distribution point in Khan Younis, killing 13 people, including children.

While the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire continues to hold despite tensions, Israeli forces have reportedly targeted sites in Lebanon, allegedly used for smuggling weapons, since the truce began
