Tel Aviv (The Uttam Hindu): The months-long war between Israel and Hamas now appears to be nearing its end. Hamas has indicated that it wants to stop the fighting and is ready to release all hostages. The organization stated that it wants to move toward a permanent resolution by ending the war in Gaza.

'Hamas Signals End to War, Offers Full Hostage Release in Exchange for Prisoner Swap Stop the war, we are ready to release all hostages’… Hamas in surrender mode after Israeli attacks: Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, in a televised address, said, “We no longer want an interim agreement; we want a permanent one. We do not want war in Gaza. We are ready to release all hostages, provided that Israel releases the Palestinian civilians imprisoned in its jails.” Al-Hayya also targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of promoting partial agreements for political gains, which are worsening hunger and destruction in Gaza.

It is worth noting that on October 7, 2023, Hamas launched an attack on Israel that killed over 1,200 civilians and resulted in the abduction of many others. Since the war began, thousands of people have been killed, including a large number of women and children. The Gaza Strip has been almost entirely destroyed, and its residents now seek peace. Israel has consistently stated that its goal in the war is the total elimination of Hamas and its administrative control.
