“I Made a Mistake” Ranveer Allahabadia Apologizes Amid Backlash for Obscene Remarks, Watch Video
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A written complaint has been filed against YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia, comedian Samay Raina, Apurva Makhija, and the organizers of the show *India's Got Latent* for making offensive and obscene jokes about parents. The complaint, which was lodged with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, has sparked widespread controversy.
The issue came to light after a segment on the show *India's Got Latent* where the comedians made inappropriate comments regarding parents. In the face of mounting backlash over his remarks, Ranveer Allahabadia issued an apology, but his tone has raised concerns.
In a video posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Ranveer apologized for his comments, stating, "What I said on *India's Got Latent* should not have been said. I am sorry." While apologizing, Ranveer emphasized, "What I said was inappropriate, not funny. I just want to apologize. However, I won’t justify what I said, nor will I discuss the reasons behind it. I am simply acknowledging my mistake. The podcast was viewed by people of all ages, and I should have been more responsible."
Ranveer went on to explain that the experience had taught him a valuable lesson in using his platform responsibly. He also mentioned that he had been asked to remove insensitive content from the video, further expressing, "I hope that, as humans, you will forgive me." Despite his apology, social media users have criticized Ranveer for his tone and lack of genuine remorse. One user wrote, "You’ve already lost your respect with this comment. If such words are coming out for parents, then you’ve lost, brother."
The complaint and the subsequent apology have ignited debates about the boundaries of comedy and responsibility on public platforms.
