Shambhu Border: Farmer Swallows Poison in Protest Against Government Inaction
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): A farmer, identified as Resham Singh (55) from Pehowind, Tarn Taran, swallowed poison during the ongoing protest at Shambhu Border. Singh, who had been protesting for 11 months, was reportedly upset with the government's failure to resolve the issue. He is currently in critical condition and has been admitted to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.
According to fellow farmers, Singh ingested the poison near the langar site in the morning. Upon learning of the incident, the farmers provided first aid and immediately rushed him to the hospital. This follows a similar incident on December 14, when farmer Ranjodh Singh consumed poison after being prevented from heading to Delhi. Ranjodh Singh passed away four days later in Patiala's Rajindra Hospital.
Meanwhile, farmer leader Jagjeet Singh Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike at Khanouri Border, is in critical condition. Today marks the 45th day of his fast, and his blood pressure continues to fall. He has refused to meet with anyone due to his deteriorating health.
