Security Lapse: CM Nayab Saini & Manohar Lal Khattar’s Convoy Stranded for 15 Minutes

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu)- The convoy of Haryana Chief Minister Naib Saini and Union Minister Manohar Lal remained stuck in the sensitive zone of the capital for 15 minutes due to the security guard of Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh locking the main gate. The place where the convoy of Chief Minister Naib Saini and Union Minister Manohar Lal stopped at midnight is at a short distance from the Haryana and Punjab CM House, the Legislative Assembly of both the states, the Secretariat and the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Union Minister Manohar Lal was in Chandigarh on Wednesday night. Manohar Lal was at the CM residence in Chandigarh with Chief Minister Naib Saini. Manohar Lal had to go to Haryana Niwas at around 11.30 pm. When Manohar Lal started leaving after the meeting, CM Naib Saini also left for Haryana Niwas to drop him.

When the convoy of both the leaders turned towards Haryana Niwas, the gate in front of Punjab Bhawan was closed. The key of this gate is with the guard of Punjab Bhawan. Whenever any VIP comes, he opens the gate. After crossing Punjab Bhawan, Haryana Niwas comes ahead. Due to lack of prior information, the guard was not at the gate at that time.

After this, the convoy of the Chief Minister and the Union Minister stopped there. Both the leaders have Z plus security cover. Due to which the security personnel took both the leaders under their cover outside the gate. After this, the watchman of Punjab Raj Bhavan was called after searching. After about 15 minutes the guard reached there and opened the gate. After which Manohar Lal and Naib Saini reached Haryana Niwas. When the convoy of the CM stopped, the Chandigarh Police was also immediately informed about this. After which police teams from there also reached there. However, why did the Chandigarh Police not clear the route first at the time of departure of the CM and the Union Minister. Haryana Chief Minister Naib Saini, accepting this incident, said that he and Manohar Lal had to stand outside due to the gate being closed. In the joint meeting, it has come to light that the lock was put from the Punjab side. This has happened due to lack of coordination. Officials are looking into this matter. The Chief Minister of Punjab has also talked about increasing security there so that no one faces any problem in coming at night.
