Independent MP Amritpal Singh Booked Under UAPA as Troubles Mount

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The legal troubles for Amritpal Singh the independent MP from Khadoor Sahib and a known Khalistani supporter currently lodged in Dibrugarh jail have deepened. Singh has now been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with the murder case of Gurpreet Singh Harinau a youth affiliated with Panthic organizations.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has informed the Faridkot court in writing about the addition of UAPA sections to the case. Alongside Singh, terrorist Arsh Dalla has also been charged under the UAPA.

Amritpal Singh, already held under the National Security Act (NSA) is expected to face even greater legal challenges following this development. The Punjab Police has included UAPA charges ahead of filing the charge sheet in this high-profile case.
