Free Electricity and Water for Tenants: Kejriwal’s Landmark Announcement

Update: 2025-01-18 08:39 GMT

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Arvind Kejriwal, the National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has made a bold promise for Delhi’s tenants, declaring that if his party comes to power, millions of tenants will receive free electricity and water. Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal revealed that many tenants, particularly those from Purvanchal, live in overcrowded and impoverished conditions. He emphasized that these residents, who often share homes with several families, deserve access to basic utilities without any additional cost.

While AAP’s healthcare initiatives, like Mohalla Clinics, and educational programs have received widespread praise, Kejriwal pointed out that tenants are still excluded from the benefits of free electricity and water. He assured that a system would be implemented post-election to ensure that even tenants enjoy the same benefits as homeowners.

In a separate comment, Kejriwal criticized the BJP for their reaction to a documentary made about AAP, which he believes exposes BJP’s efforts to undermine his party. The documentary, he said, sheds light on BJP’s conspiracies against AAP leaders, and he questioned why the BJP was so fearful of its screening. Kejriwal also drew attention to the fact that BJP had not sought permission from the Election Commission for films related to Prime Minister Modi, calling out their double standards.

Further, Kejriwal ridiculed BJP’s election manifesto, dubbing it the "Kejriwal Patra." He pointed out that BJP had acknowledged the success of AAP’s welfare programs, including free healthcare and education, and questioned why voters should choose BJP when AAP has already proven it can deliver these services effectively.
