Country Blocks US Plane Landing, Trump Orders Immediate Action
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Since assuming the presidency of America, Donald Trump has increased the tension of many countries by taking tough decisions one after the other. Meanwhile, the Colombian government did not allow two planes carrying migrants from America to land, after which there has been tension in the relations between America and Colombia. After this incident, US President Donald Trump has issued orders to take several tough actions against Colombia.
Trump took these actions
US President Donald Trump has announced on his social media platform Truth Social that he is ordering tariffs, visa restrictions and other retaliatory measures against Colombia. This includes a 25% tariff on imports from Colombia which will be increased to 50% in a week. Travel and visa restrictions on Colombian government officials and all allies and supporters. The announcement includes taking many tough actions like visa restrictions on all party members, family members and supporters of the Colombian government.
Colombia finally bowed down
Initially, Colombia also responded to Trump's tough step and announced to impose a 25 percent import duty on American products. However, soon after this, the news came that Colombia has agreed to accept the immigrants deported from America. After this, America has withdrawn its threat of imposing import duty. However, other punitive steps have been kept intact for now. The Colombian government has also said that it is sending a presidential plane for the honorable return of its people from America.
