67 Out of 70 Congress Candidates Lose Deposits as BJP Dominates Border Seats
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- Delhi Election… BJP is going to form a government with full majority in Delhi after 27 years. BJP has become the largest party in Delhi with 48 seats. The assembly seats bordering Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have played the most important role in BJP's victory. BJP has won most of the seats here.
Actually, there are more than 20 border seats in Delhi. Out of these, BJP has won about 14 seats. Apart from this, AAP has won more than eight seats. BJP had maintained its dominance on the border seats since 8 am on Saturday. However, it was also facing competition from AAP candidates. The seats on which BJP has won adjoining Haryana include Narela, Bawana, Mundka, Najafgarh, Matiala, Bijwasan, Chhatarpur, Mehrauli, Sangam Vihar. Apart from this, it has won Karawal Nagar, Mustafabad, Shahdara, Vishwas Nagar and Trilokpuri adjoining UP.
On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has got success in Gokalpur, Seelampur, Seemapuri, Babarpur, Kondli and Okhla bordering UP. Apart from this, victory has been achieved in Tughlakabad, Badarpur and Burari bordering Haryana. In Delhi Assembly elections, 67 out of 70 Congress candidates lost their deposits. It has failed to open its account for the third time in a row in the 70-member assembly. However, there has been a slight improvement of 2.1% in the vote share of Congress. Congress party could become the second largest party on only one seat.
Congress had fielded young leader Abhishek Dutt from Assembly No. 42-Kasturba Nagar seat. Where he lost the election to BJP by a margin of about 11 thousand votes. Congress could not even become the second largest party on any other seat. Let us tell you that many big leaders have faced defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. Former Chief Minister of Delhi and National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia from Jangpura Assembly seat, Satyendra Jain of AAP from Shakur Basti, Saurabh Bhardwaj of Aam Aadmi Party from Greater Kailash and Awadh Ojha from Patparganj have lost.
