2 cases of HMPV found in Karnataka, ICMR confirmed; Alert issued
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The HMPV virus which is spreading rapidly in China has now reached India as well. Two cases of this virus have been confirmed in Karnataka. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has given this information.
In Karnataka, an 8-month-old boy and a 3-month-old girl have been found infected with this virus. Both the children were admitted to the hospital after complaining of fever. The 3-month-old girl has been discharged from the hospital after treatment, while the 8-month-old boy is still undergoing treatment. The Union Health Ministry is taking this matter seriously and is monitoring the situation. ICMR has also said that it is ready to deal with any situation.
The Health Department of Karnataka says that the sample has not been tested in their laboratory. This has come to light in the report of a private hospital. There is no information about the strain. The sample has been sent to the government laboratory. The government has issued an alert regarding the virus. Vigilance is being maintained.
