Woman’s life cut short in shocking attempt to escape Rats

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic accident occurred in Binjara village, Korba district, Chhattisgarh, when a woman named Basanti died after consuming tomato chutney laced with poison. The incident unfolded on Sunday when Basanti, who lived with Kartik Ram, had placed poisoned tomatoes to kill rats. Unbeknownst to her, while she was collecting leaves from the forest, Kartik mistakenly placed the poisoned tomatoes in a basket, assuming they had fallen by accident.

When Basanti returned home, she used the tomatoes from the basket to make chutney. After consuming the chutney, she fell seriously ill, experiencing vomiting and diarrhea. She was rushed to the hospital but tragically passed away during treatment.

Kartik Ram told police that Basanti had not consumed the poison intentionally, and the incident was purely accidental. The body has been handed over to the family after postmortem procedures.

This heartbreaking incident has left the village in shock, highlighting the dangers of accidental poisoning.
