The orders, announced from the walls of Sri Akal Takht Sahib on December 2, led to the creation of a seven-member Recruitment Committee to strengthen the Shiromani Akali Dal. The five active members of the committee are Santa Singh Umaidpuri, Manpreet Singh Ayali, Iqbal Singh Jhunda, Gurpartap Singh Wadala and Bibi Satwant Kaur. They stated that it’s not just the duty of every Sikh to follow the orders from Sri Akal Takht Sahib Ji, but also a moral responsibility to protect it.

The committee members also mentioned that they had several meetings to discuss the role and work of the recruitment committee. They tried to reach a common, unanimous opinion, and a full report was sent to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Based on this report, the orders were issued today, focusing mainly on recruitment, which the committee is committed to fulfilling no matter what.

In their statement, the committee members assured that they would represent the Akali workers’ will with honesty and dedication, bringing together all Panthic parties to recruit on a large scale, reaching every village and town.

They also shared that an important meeting took place in Sri Amritsar Sahib after the Ardas at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Tuesday to plan the next steps for the recruitment process, with plans to prepare a complete outline for it.

Finally, the committee called on all Akali workers, Panthic parties, organizations, Dal Panths, Taksals, sects and well-wishers across Punjab to support the recruitment effort in order to strengthen the oldest political party in Punjab and preserve communal harmony.
