Breaking: Punjab government makes major announcement, issues appeal to public
New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): The farmers' ongoing struggle for their demands continues with a significant rally scheduled for Thursday, February 13 in Jeeund village Bathinda. The Bharatiya Kisan Union Ugrahan is organizing this rally and meetings have been held in villages across Barnala district to encourage people to join in large convoys. Joginder Singh Ugrahan the leader of the organization addressed the gathering emphasizing the significance of the rally and the issues at stake. He stated that the rally in Jeeund is a crucial event to protest the government's pro-corporate policies which he believes are threatening the land of Punjab. These policies according to Ugrahan, include land acquisition through projects like Bharat Mala road developments gas pipelines and the new agricultural market policy. Additionally there is ongoing resistance against the government's plans to take control of lands occupied by farmers since 1952.
Ugrahan demanded that the Punjab government reject the draft of the new agricultural policy during the upcoming Vidhan Sabha session. He also criticized the Delhi government’s policies, asserting that no party government has created any policies in favor of farmers. Ugrahan further appealed to Jagjit Singh Dallewal who is on a hunger strike to end his fast and continue the struggle. He emphasized that the fight for farmers' rights is part of a larger "ground war" that requires a united effort to bring about any real solutions.
The rally in Jeeund is set to be a major display of farmer solidarity with leaders like Ugrahan urging all farmers to unite for their rights and to push back against what they view as harmful government policies. The outcome of this protest could have significant implications for the ongoing farmers' movement as they continue to demand justice and the protection of their land and livelihoods. The tale of these farmers’ relentless struggle highlights the ongoing fight for their rights and the future of agriculture in Punjab.
