Gujarat Titans Clinch Thrilling 8-Wicket Victory Over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025

Bangalore (The Uttam Hindu): In a dominating display of all-round cricket, Gujarat Titans (GT) handed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) an eight-wicket defeat in their IPL 2025 clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. Chasing a target of 170, GT cruised to victory with 13 balls to spare, as they reached the target in just 17.5 overs.

Jos Buttler played a pivotal role in GT's chase, finishing unbeaten on 73 off 39 balls. His swashbuckling innings included six boundaries and four sixes, providing the much-needed impetus to the chase. Buttler was well supported by opener Sai Sudharsan, who contributed 49 off 36 balls, forming a crucial 75-run partnership for the second wicket. The duo’s partnership set the foundation for an easy finish as they kept the scoreboard ticking, despite a brief spell of pressure from RCB's bowlers. Sherfane Rutherford played a steady hand, remaining unbeaten on 30 off 18 balls, guiding GT across the line comfortably.

Earlier, RCB had been sent into bat, and although they managed to post a total of 169/8, their innings lacked significant contributions from the top order. Mohammed Siraj’s early breakthroughs put RCB on the backfoot, removing both openers in quick succession during the powerplay. Despite a solid recovery in the middle overs, RCB couldn’t find enough momentum to accelerate, with key batsmen unable to convert starts into big scores.

RCB's total was built around the efforts of their middle-order batsmen, but it was never enough to put up a challenging target against a confident Gujarat Titans team. With this win, Gujarat Titans secured their second victory in three matches, while RCB will look to bounce back in their upcoming games. The match showcased Gujarat's clinical performance, with both bat and ball, making them a team to watch in this year’s IPL.
